Glitter 'n' Glue DIY

A few day ago I came across a new blog. I spent quite a while going through the archives of blog posts and found a lot of things I am going to make in the next few weeks. One of the ideas I knew I had a great excuse to make was the handmade cards, originally for valentines day. Its my boyfriends and his flat mates birthday next weekend and thought making cards were a cute little gift to make.

I was quite limited on what I could do for the cards, happy birthday would be too long. Using numbers had already been banned so I just went for their names. Originally I planned to use a string of sequins, but then decided to use single sequins.

First I needed a template, by using Microsoft word I decided what font to use as a template:

I was able to print them both on one A4 page as I'm making the cards A5. I printed them in draft just to make sure no print popped through. I cut out the necessary sizes and folded them to make the card.

I bought 10m of gold sequins from Ebay for about £2 including postage and packaging. I am planning on using it on a selection of DIY projects. I ended up separating the sequins as using them on a thread was quite hard to move how I wanted.

I used Aleene's original tacky glue as it was the one used on the original blog. In this 'Tacky Pack' I bought a selection of the glues which can be used on different surfaces.

I applied glue to the template and stuck on my sequins:

Those are the two cards. I thought there was too much white space, so used table confetti to fill it out:
