T-shirt Customization

From borrowing and occasionally stealing a few pieces from my boyfriends wardrobe, I decided to go and buy my own. I bought a H&M basic mens t-shirts in XS:

I bought them in black and white, and once I got home I decided that the black one needed a bit of customization. I toyed with ideas for quite a while, including; lace cuffs added to the sleeves, adding a breast pocket...and then I was playing around with white lace and played with the idea of a collar.

As I didn't start the project with the idea of blogging I didn't stop to take photos. I pinned on the lace and played around with where I wanted it to fall, once I had decided I tacked it on with normal white cotton:

It is a little bit difficult to see from the photos, but I used quite a large stitch just to keep it in place:

I then used elastic thread for the main stitching:

It was really hard to thread, so once I managed it I used a very long piece so I didn't have to try again.

I wore the finished item today when I went and met a friend for a day of shopping and lunch. Despite my lack of trust in my own sewing skills it has stayed strong, even with lots of trying on other clothes. I am really happy with the little addition and will defiantly do more.
